Project Status/Remarks: On-going

In the past decades, fighting global warming has become one of the most critical challenges in our society. In particular, there was around 50 % increase in the greenhouse gas emission over last 20 years simply coming from the power generation in Hong Kong. Although several government policies as well as clean energy technologies have been introduced and implemented in order to tackle these global climate change stakes, there is still lack of significant achievement in the recent years. This project aims to develop new techniques to engineer the silicon surface for the enhanced light-harvesting and chemical stability in electrolytes, which can enable the demonstration of large-scale silicon deployment for the sustainable solar-driven clean hydrogen fuel production.
