Project Status/Remarks: On-going

This proposed project is designed to systematically evaluate the effect of critical operational parameters on the performance of thermophilic food waste and sewage sludge co-digestion in Hong Kong. In addition to such operational optimization, the study will dig into the microbial interactions by Next Generation Sequencing technology to disclose the linkage between microbial community shift and the anaerobic digestion (AD) performance with the ultimate purpose of establishing bioaugmentation protocol to deal with unexpected failure of AD system during thermophilic food waste and sewage sludge co-digestion.
