Project Title: Development of advanced close-proximity (CPX) technology with suppressed background noise for tyre/road noise measurement in Hong Kong traffic

This project aims to design, fabricate, certify and carry out road worthiness tests locally on advanced Close-Proximity (CPX) system that fits the road traffic environment in a metropolitan city like Hong Kong. The major objectives are to:

(a). design a completely new CPX system which features advanced acoustic and vibration control designs such that it provides more accurate tyre / road noise measurements than existing systems for improving the quality of tyre / road noise measurement in Hong Kong; and
(b). develop a fully automated new CPX system which is able to perform tyre / road noise measurements more accurate than the existing similar capability, especially in the local narrow, bendy and bumpy road configurations commonly found in Hong Kong.
