Project Title: Development of a software platform for air ventilation assessment in urban areas

The proposed project aims to develop a software platform for air ventilation assessment (AVA) in Hong Kong. It will consist of three main modules, including the wind climate data module, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) based simulation module and judgement module. The software platform will provide an accurate, efficient and systematic assessment tool for AVA in urban environments. Two case studies will be presented for guidance and demonstration purposes, in which the CFD simulation results will be validated through comparison with wind tunnel testing measurements. The outputs of this project will facilitate AVA and in turn enhance the air quality, residents' comfortability and public health in urban areas of Hong Kong.
