A Scientific Study of Photovoltaic Panels-Additional Specialist Monitoring Equipment and Panels of Different Advanced Thin Film PV Technologies

Project Title: A scientific study of photovoltaic panels

Applicant: The University of Hong Kong

Total Approved Grant: $210,000 (Actual Expenditure: $191,465.35)

Duration: 1.9.1997 - 28.2.1999

Project Status/Remarks: completed

Scope: A scientific study to monitor the electricity generated from solar energy captured by photovoltaic panels when used as cladding and / or sunshading to windows through the full cycle of Hong Kong seasons.

Summary of the Findings/Outcomes:
Hong Kong solar radiation was analysed during period of peak air pollution in Hong Kong and publicity materials were produced (ref : Academic paper presented at WREC 2000 Air pollution and its ramifications for BIPV applications: A spectral analysis of Hong Kong's solar radiation 1999.)
