Summary of the Findings/Outcomes:
The first International Conference on Biodiversity, Ecology and Conservation of Marine Ecosystems 2015 (BECoME 2015) was successfully organised during 1-4 June 2015 at the University of Hong Kong. 22 experts in the field of BECoME from Australia, Canada, China, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States were invited to share their expertise and experience. The conference attracted 280 participants from 26 countries, and received over 200 abstracts. There were 13 keynote lectures, 10 invited lectures, 94 regular oral presentations and 88 poster presentations. The conference provided a timely platform for participants from government, academia and the environmental sector to exchange their knowledge and experience in the field, build professional network and establish research collaboration. A training workshop on the application of stable isotopes in ecological studies was also held on 4 June 2015 for conference participants, especially research postgraduate students. Conference proceedings were published in 2016. Based on a questionnaire survey, 97.3% of the respondents (n = 75) regarded the BECoME 2015 as a great conference.
