Introduction  

The Environment and Conservation Fund Ordinance (Cap. 450), which established the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF), was enacted in June 1994. The ECF came into operation in August 1994. Section 5 of the Ordinance (Cap. 450) provides for the Secretary for the Environment to act as the trustee of the ECF. Section 7 of the Ordinance provides for the establishment of an Environment and Conservation Fund Committee.

Local non-profit making organisations (e.g. universities, community bodies, schools) are eligible to apply. Projects must be non-profit making in nature.

Since August 1994, the Woo Wheelock Green Fund (WWGF) has been supporting some of the ECF projects. Applications for support from the ECF may also be considered for grants from WWGF.
